Savant Challenge

Do you need to hook your wii up to the internet when you win the savant challenge? I'm working hard on it right now! The contest isn't going to end soon is it?
Savant Challenge

Hey Luke!

You can do the challenge totally offline. You only need the Internet to email us when you win (there will be instructions on the victory screen).

We'll keep giving out 2000 Wii Points until we get 20 winners, so you've still got time. Even after that we'll continue updating the leader board as new scores come in.

Good luck!
Last boss in Savant level...ughhh

So, I've spent the past 5 hours getting to the main boss in Savant level...I actually thought I was "on" to something at one point where I kinda learned a new strategy that got me winning pretty consistently. Then, with my hopes up thinking "just one more level", the last boss starts rolling off 100+ combos. I'm just curious, does the final boss not only have more madstones, but does 1P have less madstones and bombs as well? I'm just asking because I was getting some pretty high combos around 60 or 70 before, and in this final level, I struggle to get over 10. I think if I could just get my combo level going higher I'd stand a chance, but it seems extra hard in the final level. Ah well, at least I made it to the last level!!

Awesome job man!

The final boss does get a lot of bonus MadStones, more than it does on any of the lower difficulties. The player gets the same blocks/bombs/MadStones as normal, but the reason that it can be really hard to pick up big combos is because (like you said) the Savant boss starts huge combos really early and so it's using a Quake almost the entire game. And when the boss is destroying your MadStones left and right, it not only makes it harder to keep your combo going because it takes more time and effort between MadStones, but also because having them break unexpectedly throws off your game... carefully planned sequences of moves can be ruined.

If you haven't taken a look at my strategy guide yet, I'd recommend checking out the section on Quakes (the last section). I wrote some of the sections about when to Quake and when to end combos specifically for the tougher levels in Savant mode.

Fun Fact: the last boss used to move about 30% faster before I toned it down, and it could Quake harder than a normal player. Ouch!
Three little questions...

@Riverman_Paul: I have three little questions for you about this contest and MadStone:

1-Could we use the «skull mode» that we learn after hard mode for Savant mode or it is considered as a cheat?

2-Are you SURE you can shift wii points to someone who live in Canada?

3-Who did the fabulous music for this game? It just keep playing in my mind 3 hours after I played MadStone.

1- You can't use any of the codes you learn from beating the game to enter the contest. Having the extra MadStones from the "Arcade Skulls" cheat would be nice, wouldn't it?!

2- Actually I'm not sure. We'll try it, and if it doesn't work, we'll find another way to get you the prize.

3- All thanks for the excellent music goes to the game's co-creator, my brother Jacob! I'll make sure to let him know you liked it.
a last trick...

Thanks for answering my questions. I managed to do all the level in savant mode exept the boss whitout the Arcade Skulls. Even after I've read carefully all your strategy guide, I still didn't manage to beat that giant skull.

Do you have any other trick for me or a video to know the best method to beat him? I am desperate but I will not stop until I made it.
I finally made it!

Sorry for the double post but I finally beat the last boss in Savant mode so you don't have to give any other tip.

The key for winnig was to never stop my combo even if the boss had a lot of madstone on his side. I managed to do a 120X combo.

I will send you the photograph of the screen after supper.
Question for Pascal

What's your best advice to rolling off huge combos? The largest one I've been able to get is around 75 or so. I also made it to the final boss but just couldn't beat him.
RE: Question for Pascal

My best advice would be to always shake a little bit the wii remote because each time you got a madstone, you also got a quarter of second for Quake. This way, each time a madstone falls in the pool, you have a little quake to help you continue your combo. You also have to be fast because the boss can do 100x combo in less time then you if you don't hurry.

Yes! This has been confirmed. Enjoy the points, Pascal!
Question about the points.

Zardos
so, just to be clear, ONLY residents in the US and Canada can enter? Mexico is definitely out of the question?

Don't know if it's due to regulations for the contest or something else entirely.

If it has to do with moving the 2000 points into a Wii "outside" the US or Canada, wouldn't changing the Wii from Mexico into US or Canada allow for the points to be trasnfered?

Hi Zardos-

Although we aren't sure, we don't think that changing the Wii country setting would work. The cards do say specifically US and Canada only.

If you are able to complete the challenge, we'll still put you on the leaderboard. We'll also try to get the points to you somehow, but we can't make any guarantees.
Duly noted.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm working my way up each difficulty in Madstone and believe I'll make it past Savant Mode as well. Looking forward to it.

The game is very fun and I love the art direction (as I said in a post at the Wiiware-world.com review of Madstone).

Hopefully your next game comes out soon (and Madstone continues selling).
By the way...

We're so glad you like the game! I let Jacob you know liked the art, all of the credit for that goes to him. Best of luck on Savant Mode!
Cool!
